More Disney Pics

Here are some more pictures from our Disney trip!

Mom trying to convince Ethan that water is his friend . . .

Ryan loves to play at the splash park! We couldn't slow him down to take a lot of pictures!

Ethan and his buddy, Olyvia. We have been friends with Olyvia since Ethan was seven months old! They love to play together!

And my personal favorite. Ethan with a complete stranger! Yes, I sent my husband on a short ride alone with the boys and he leaves Ethan in the care of a stranger! I love it!

Ethan's First Haircut; Ryan's First Hair Color!

May 2, 2009, we decided to go to Disney to get Ethan's first haircut. We also got Ryan's first haircut at Disney, so we thought it would be a good tradition. Besides, Disney goes out of their way to may all haircuts fun!

Here are some before shots:

At Disney's barber shop, they use distraction to get the kids to cooperate. First, they try stickers:

As you can see, stickers worked for Ethan:

Here he is in the process:

Here is the final product! Notice there are only a couple stickers left!

Ryan was VERY patient waiting for Ethan to get his haircut. He is such a GREAT big brother! During the ride to Disney, Ryan decided he wanted to cut his hair short, like Daddy's. However, Mommy REALLY likes his hair longer and tried to talk him out of making the change. Mommy lost.

Here is Ryan before:

I like to think this picture is Ryan thinking to himself, "Maybe I should have listened to Mom." But I doubt it!

Here is the finished cut -- I have to admit, it is cute.

For years, we have watched the big kids get color and pixie dust (or pirate dust for boys), but Ryan has never been interested. This trip he was! What we didn't realize about the color was that it would take a long time to wash out of blonde hair!! We're two weeks out at this point and there is still some faint red and blue . . .

And here is the happy boy!

All said, it was a great trip to the barber shop! I highly recommend the Disney experience for the first and all subsequent haircuts! The boys had a great time and looked great!

Renewed Commitment

Well, my great plans to create a blog AND maintain it ran into a little snag . . . I can't ever seem to fit it in. I've made a renewed committment to blogging once a week! This weeks blog is going to be a little bit of everything -- some of my favorite photos from the past few months.

There's my happy little guy! Ethan is eleven months old now! He loves to play and is full of smiles!

Here is big brother Ryan! Notice, all I get of this kid are action shots or sleeping poses! He NEVER stops! If his eyes are open, he's on the go. If I had a fraction of his energy . . . :) He is such a good boy and a GREAT big brother.

This was for the Super Bowl! Can you guess who the family was cheering???

GO STEELERS!!!!

Interestingly, the Steelers won the Super Bowl after the birth of both the boys -- obviously the boys are good luck!

Mom and the boys! I love these two kids so much! Ryan (age 3) looks more like me when I was little. Ethan (11 months) is the spitting image of his Daddy at the same age.

Ahhhh -- they're both asleep. Need I say more????

Ethan is allergic to penicillin. We found out the hard way. This is when the rash was healing. It was terrible. Poor baby. He took it like a champ though. Itched a little, but mostly left it alone.

Here is my beautiful baby minus the rash!

This is us at Ryan and Ethan's first races! The "Diaper Dash" took place at the Gate River Run in Jacksonville. My Dad and Stepmom ran the adult version. After the big races, the children were able to participate in a child's race. Ethan was first. His race was 12 months and younger. They could walk, crawl, roll -- whatever way they could make it across the finish line. Ethan finished second to last. :) He was more content to sit on the ground and play with the dirt. My sister blames me for not introducing him to dirt prior to the race!

Ryan's group was for boys ages 37 months to 48 months. He came in second place and was SO proud. Both boys received a "finisher" medal and t-shirt. Both also were given little backpacks. It was really nice.

So with that, I'm done with this week's blog. Hopefully with my renewed commitment will come an improved level of skill. :)

Well, here it is. My first blog . . . better late than never. Many thanks to Team Darnell for introducing me to the joys of blogging!

My first blog is going to be about the special pleasures of motherhood. I've been puked on three times in the past twelve hours. Daddy has been puked on zero times. Apparently this is fair in some alternate universe.

Here is a photo of the little puker! :)

More blogging will follow -- I just wanted to get my feet wet with one to celebrate the fun of the day!

Take care,

Kristen
